WHAT: Director León Ichaso (El Cantante, Crossover Dreams) will present the World Premiere of his latest film, PARAÍSO at the 10th New York International Latino Film Festival (NYLIFF). The film is the last installment of Ichaso’s “Cuban Trilogy,” which began with his critically-acclaimed 1979 film EL SUPER and continued in 1996 with AZÚCAR AMÁRGA (BITTER SUGAR). Starring Miguel Gutiérrez, Adrian Mas, Tamara Melián, Lili Rentería and Ariel Texido, PARAÍSO begins when the dull life of Miami radio personality, Remigio Gallegos, abruptly changes after he answers the phone to find out his son, whom he’s never met, is waiting for him at an immigration office. Wearing Remigio’s mother’s silver cross, the young man brings a haunting past. Florida. Part thriller, part drama, part existential romance, the film explodes with heart, color, music and a desperate tale. PARAÍSO explores generational and class divides within the Cuban exile community of South Florida.
